Do I Need a Rental Car in Mexico?
Public transportation in Mexico is a good option when traveling within the city. If you want to travel longer distances, you can choose between long-distance buses, a rental car, or a plane. Consider which option is best for you. With a rental car, you can set your own pace and choose your own route. This is not possible with a plane or bus.
The traffic rules in Mexico are very similar to those in the Netherlands. They drive on the right side and overtake on the left. Generally, the roads are well-maintained.In southern Mexico, there are well-paved highways between the cities and towns. When you leave the highway, you might encounter unpaved roads. These roads are passable at a slow pace.
Tip: rent a 4x4 vehicle if you plan to drive on unpaved road.
